AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College Concert Choir, directed by Mallorie Chernin, will present its annual spring concert on Saturday, May 2, at 8 p.m. in Buckley Recital Hall in the Arms Music Center at Amherst College. The group will be assistant-directed by Todd Fruth ’08 and accompanied by Philip Dupont ’12. It is open to the public at no charge.

The choir will perform music from Leonard Bernstein’s Candide, as well as the song “Dear Boy,” featuring soloist Marshall Nannes ’09. Also on the program will be the work of American composers Eric Whitacre, Byron Adams, Moses Hogan and others, and Argentine composers Alberto Ginastera and Carlos Guastavino. In addition, former U.S. Poet Laureate and Pultizer Prize winner Richard Wilbur ’47 will speak about the lyrics of Candide.
