Amherst College has a full service post office that ships domestically. We distribute over 60,000 packages to Amherst students, faculty, and staff during the academic year.

You can find the Amherst College post office on the first floor of the Keefe Campus Center.

The Post Office is closed on Sundays, holidays or when Amherst College closes for inclement weather. Any changes to daily hours of operation will be posted in the daily mammoth.

How to Properly Address Packages for Staff and Faculty

Please use the following format when addressing packages:

Department name
Department building address
Amherst, MA 01002

Please make sure when ordering through Workday punchouts that your address is correctly listed. 16 Barrett Hill Drive should not be put for department packages. Doing so may cause delays in delivery or being Returned to Sender.

Department Purchase’s for stamps and packages go to Campus Print and Mail, which is located in College Hall 155 South Pleasant Street on the ground floor.

  • Personal Mail or Personal Packages: Personal mail and packages can be brought to Retail Window for shipping.
  • Payment Method: We accept cash, AC Dollars, credit/debit, Google and Apple pay

Using inter-college mail:

  • Please try to address all inter-college mail with the correct name and department number.
  • If you are trying to send items to a student please include their AC box number.
  • Both AC department and student box numbers can be found using the Amherst College directory.

Note: You must log in with your Amherst College account to access student box information in the directory.

Please make sure your AC department number is correct in workday. You can locate this by doing the following:

  1. Login to workday
  2. Click the person icon in the top right
  3. Hit view profile
  4. Scroll to the very bottom and look for Work Address
  5. It should say: AC# 2*** PO Box 5000 Amherst, MA 01002 United States of America

Package and mail delivery on campus:

The Amherst College mail is delivered once each day between 8:00am and 12:00pm This includes all USPS mail and packages.  All other carriers make deliveries on campus each day. (UPS, FedEx, Amazon, Staples)

Please make sure to use the correct building address and department on all mail and packages.  Packages miss delivered or addressed to the Campus Post office will be given back to the respected carrier for redistribution. All non USPS packages with the wrong building or 16 Barrett Hill Road/AC#2500 address must be picked up from the Campus Post Office by the department.
