The Lyle A. McGeoch Fellows
The Lyle A. McGeoch Fund for Computer Science and Algorithmic Thinking Fellows is a permanently endowed fund established by Alex B. Ginsburg '93 and Hillary Blumberg to provide opportunities for guidance and mentorship for students of computer science at Amherst College. The Fund is named in honor of Lyle A. McGeoch, who was the Brian E. Boyle '69 Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at the time of his death in 2019. An admired and beloved member of the faculty for more than three decades, Professor McGeoch was instrumental in the development of the Computer Science and Algorithmic Thinking Fellows Program.
Fellows will assume a variety of roles, including:
- assisting department faculty in courses and providing academic support to students
- working across departments with faculty who want to incorporate computer science and algorithmic thinking into their teaching and research
- collaborating with the fellows in statistics and in data science
