Sergei Boldyrev Liturgical Music Collection and Faina Terentieva Secular Vocal Music Collection

During her career as a performing vocalist, Faina Terentieva
(Boldyreva) amassed a substantial collection of sheet music. While
preparing for a move from Toronto to Gulfport, Fl. she contacted Thomas
Whitney with the intention of selling her collection to the Amherst Center
for Russian Culture. In the course of correspondence with the director of
the Russian Culture Center, Stanley Rabinowitz, Ms. Terentieva decided to
include the sheet music collection of her husband, Sergei Boldyrev, former
soloist with Serge Jaroff's Don Cossack Choir and church choir director of
25 years. Together, the two collections contain masterpieces of sacred
and secular vocal music by significant Russian and Russian-emigre
composers. The collection was purchased as whole in 1994 by the Amherst
Center for Russian Culture.
