As the Inaugural Director of the DSI, I look forward to creating a thriving community to exchange practical and theoretical expertise on data science, and different approaches to using data in research and in education, and I am excited about inviting world leaders in the field to share their ideas to the broad campus community.
The Data Science Initiative is an important effort to engage the College community and beyond in discussions of data science and its impacts. I hope it will continue to foster connections between people and across disciplines at the College.

As an art historian, I'm concerned with how data-driven analyses can enrich our understanding of objects and architecture. I have an additional interest in the intersection of data production, digitization, and ethics in museums today. I'm thrilled to find in the Data Science Initiative an interdisciplinary community in which to explore these issues and much more.
