Welcome to the website of the Japanese Language Program at Amherst College. My name is Wako Tawa(多和わ子)and I am the Director of the Japanese Language Program of Amherst College. At Amherst, we teach Japanese in a unique way, using the textbook series The Japanese Stage-Step Course. Our teaching philosophy and course offerings can be found on this home page, but if you have further questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail me at wtawa@amherst.edu. I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. I would first like to introduce the instructors in the program.
