Internal Posting: On-Campus Announcement

All vacancies are announced on-campus in the OHR Newsletter for a minimum of two weeks.
Employees are encouraged to apply for positions during this period. Internal candidates should apply by clicking on the Career App on their Workday home screen and following the steps below:

External Posting by OHR: Media Advertising

All vacancies are posted on the Human Resources Employment Opportunities website and on the Workday external career site.
Advertising will include local/regional newspapers/websites and appropriate regional publications and organizations to attract a qualified and diverse applicant pool. The cost of advertising is generally covered by OHR. If a membership or subscription is required, OHR will work with the Hiring Manager on options.
Most regular staff positions are posted on a variety of nationwide, diversity-specific websites.
Additional advertising can be identified by the Department Head and/or Search Committee in consultation with the OHR in an effort to create a qualified and diverse applicant pool, including:
- Posting in professional organizations serving demographically diverse populations.
- With career centers serving demographically diverse students and graduate students.
A listing of external postings will be sent to the hiring manager by OHR once completed.

Additional Outreach by Hiring Managers/Search Teams

Hiring Managers should share the ad widely, including:
- With diversity arms/affinity spaces of professional organizations.
- This is an especially important step to ensure a smooth process during candidate review.
- Positions should be shared on social media with #AmherstCollegeJobs.
Word of mouth is our most cited source for candidates who apply. Please share the opening with those in your professional circles.
