Calling all crocheters, knitters, or other fiber craft enthusiasts!

Join us for opportunities to learn from each other and build connections across campus. Come share your love of crocheting, knitting, and other fiber art crafts.  All levels of experience are welcome! The Fiber Friends CRG is open to those who have experience crocheting, knitting, or other fiber crafts as well as beginners who would like to learn. Materials will be supplied for those with an interest in learning to knit or crochet and for any community projects. Bring your current WIP (work in progress) or start something new!

Community Project

Creating blankets and community one 5.5” - 6” square at a time

The Fiber Friends CRG is extending an invitation to the whole community to contribute in making a community granny square blanket. Anyone can contribute by creating a granny square (or two or more!) that will be put together to create blankets that will be provided to those in need.  Don’t know how to knit, crochet, or what a granny square is? Join us at an upcoming Fiber Friends session or reach out to a fiber friends member.  We have all the supplies available that you’ll need including guidance!  Creating a square is one of the easiest projects for beginners.

If you are unable to join in person and want to contribute squares, please send 5.5 - 6 inch squares to Kate or Mel by interoffice mail at AC#2204 or bring them to the Office of Human Resources.  All styles, colors, and designs welcome!

Check out the three blankets that were donated in April 2024to the Cancer Connection in Northampton. A special thank you to the Amherst College Center for Community Engagement for their partnership.
